TRACY WILKES
I received my high school diploma in 1978 from Williston High School, Williston, North Dakota.
I received a Bachelor of Science degree in 1986 from East Texas Baptist University, Marshall, Texas.
I studied education and social studies at East Texas State University, afterwards receiving my teaching certifications.
I have a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Religion and English.
My teaching certifications are for Secondary English Language Arts and Social Studies.
I attend 3 professional development workshops each year to review the best teaching practices and to review information or gain new information to help students succeed.
I began teaching at James Bowie Middle School on August 18, 2008. I have been an ELAR teacher here for 13 years. I am currently teaching 3 groups of 8th grade ELAR and one class of 6th grade ELAR.
I began teaching in 1988 at Westlawn Middle School in Texarkana, Texas. I taught grade 8 English Language Arts and American History. I also taught grade 7 Texas History.
I taught for 5 years at Westlawn before taking full-time ministerial positions as an associate pastor of youth and education and as a pastor.
I returned to teaching in 2008. I now teach school and pastor Simms First Baptist Church.
I am married and have been married for 38 years. My wife is an elementary school teacher at Liberty Eylau, where she has worked for 33 years. I have 4 children, 2 girls, and 2 boys. My girls are both married, one living in Hot Springs and the other living in Waco. My oldest son lives in Pittsburg, Texas. My youngest son is going through the process of joining the Marine Corps.
When I am not teaching at the school, I like teaching at the church where I pastor. I enjoy spending time with my family and my church family. I spend a lot of time studying the Bible, planning and preparing for teaching the Bible, and planning and preparing for teaching my ELAR classes.
